Modern Day Trend: Does Long Distance relationship REALLY work? [Part-3]
"Please don't go Suman, I would really miss u baby", literally cried Ajay at the thought of her gf leaving her native, Delhi and going off to build her career with Infosys Bangalore. They have been committed and strongly in a relationship for about 8.5 years and never had been away from each other, so today distance keeping them apart, made both of them depressed. The trusted each other to the extent and knew that, their relationship bond was so strong that eve distance won’t affect that at all. So Suman, left to Infosys Bangalore and Ajay resumed her job as Team Lead with a call centre.
Everything seemed fine with both of their lives, as they gradually settled and realized that they need to hold their emotions and time would tick away and they wud be reunited soon. Suman, made her group of friends in Bangalore and Ajay got busy in his own set of friends and social life. He made visits to Bangalore to meet her at regular intervals and she also did the same by travelling to Delhi to meet him. Things were going steady and it was now about nearing 2 years time, they were away from each other. Suman landed in hometown to celebrate their 10th year of togetherness with Ajay, where in spur of drinks, made a confession, which brought life to standstill for Suman.
Ajay confessed to Suman that in her absence, he got carried away and got physical with one of his team mate. He said he was missing her touch, presence so much and one hot babe of his team, took advantage of that and in desire of some physical stuff, he slept with her. Suman couldn't believe her ears, as to what Ajay just told her.......Suman ended things and came back shattered. She wasn't able to move on in life, cry over recalling the events and still miss him, even though she cut of all contacts. Ajay repented at what he did and just kept on apologizing day in and out, but Suman didn't hear a word. She kept track of his activities through common friends, but never talked with him. Finally she landed back in hometown, with shift of job. Ajay pleaded her day in and out, but she never buzzed and never met him, always treating him like a dog. This went on for 1 year, finally she gave Ajay another chance and saw things for 6 months, before they got back together and now happily married.
Question asked to her, why did she do that? How come she make sure the guy won't repeat again ?Suman replied" I felt it was the distance which crept between our relationship. I curtailed that by getting back to my hometown. I analyzed is behavior over 1 year and ten only I took the descion. Tell me , i have been seeing dreams with that guy for more than 10 years, as my life partner second, do you think I would be able to ever forget him or get along with anyone? Better be with this guy and hope things work out, rather than being heartless and get along with any other guy ".
Is physical intimacy so necessary and desirable between partners when they closely bonded? Does distance really make people swing from their priorities? Was Suman right in cutting off distance barrier and the seeing if things worked or shud she have still maintained distance and seen how the guy behaves still? Was this exceptional case or do people really get diverted even in relationships which span over years??
